July 1, 2004 — A man was arrested in his car Sunday night on charges of drug possession after crossing drugs from Mexico to the United States.

A book on how to smuggle drugs was in his possession.

Charles Geier, 19, from Pennsylvania was arrested Sunday night by law enforcement at the Gateway International Bridge after a U.S. Customs and Border Protection canine signaled to inspectors that Geier might be carrying illegal drugs.

A search of Geier’s car revealed LSD, several illegal depressants, a pipe with marijuana residue and other drug paraphernalia, according to a report from the Brownsville Police Department.

Geier, who the report said is employed by a branch of the military, was carrying about $3,000, which he said he planned to use for partying and for buying drugs, according to statements recorded in the police report.

Geier was charged with felony drug possession and jailed with a $45,000 bond. The Cameron County Sheriff’s Department would not confirm if Geier had been released by press time.
