SAN ANTONIO – Gov. Rick Perry will be in Mexico next week for a trade conference as well as private meetings with Mexican governors and President Vicente Fox.

Augustin Gutierrez Canet, Fox's international press spokesman, said topics Perry and Fox are expected to discuss include immigration, border security, commerce and Mexico's water debt to the United States.

"They will continue on the same themes they discussed in Austin," Gutierrez Canet said in a report in Tuesday's San Antonio Express-News. Fox and Perry visited in Austin in November. He said a specific agenda hasn't been approved.

Kathy Walt, a spokeswoman for Perry, said the trip was in the planning stages.

Perry is to go to Monterrey, Mexico, on June 22 for a trade conference and private meetings with the governors of Nuevo Leon, Coahuila and Tamaulipas. He will go to Mexico City the next day and return to Texas on June 25, Walt said.

"The trip stems primarily from meetings that Governor Perry had with Governor (Jose Natividad) Gonzalez (Paras) of Nuevo Leon," Walt said.
